“I respect women. These girls have parents who are looking at the magazine. A nude picture shouldn’t carry a message of sexual fantasy. But I love nudity. I am super French. It’s the body, it’s sexuality, it’s part of life.”—Emmanuelle Alt on nude models in Vogue
I’m sorry I’ve been slacking as far as posting goes. Adjusting to school and my new schedule was a bit harder than I expected. I just got back into the swing of posting today, but it appears the queue is malfunctioning. Hopefully, that’ll get sorted out soon. I’ll just post things manually for now.
Giambattista Valli is the next Macy's Collaboration!
After their highly-anticipated collection with Karl Lagerfeld, what’s next on Macy’s plate? Well, another collection with another high-end designer, of course! Giambattista Valli has signed on to be the next designer collaborator at the chain store. While Valli isn’t as well known to the general public, he’s pretty big with those who follow fashion. His collection will be released October 26th and will include “cocktail dresses, skirts, blouses, lightweight jackets, edgy pants and graphic T-shirts”. The collection is probably going to be chock full of bright colors and texture combinations, which will be different after seeing Lagerfeld’s more streamlined collection. The price range is also sounding just as lovely, $50 - $150.
The entire lookbook (that’s 400+ pieces!) of Missoni's collection for Target has arrived! Now you can plan exactly which pieces you want to save up for! The goodies, which are all available on September 13th, are all adorable. There were so many that I could share all of the pics with you, but head over to Racked for the entire collection of images. I’ve included the pieces that I’m dreaming about. And, you know what surprised me? I’m seriously crushing on the decor and housewares items! If those plates are dishwasher safe, they’re mine! And that rosy rug!
Kate Spade's Holiday 2011 collection is absolutely adorable! Everything screams “Holiday!” to me, from the golden ribbon-inspired ring to the shiny and bow-decked dresses. It all sticks well and true to the Kate Spade aesthetic. Everything is clean, polished, and wonderfully preppy. Racked has the full lookbook, but I’m going to share a couple of my favorite pieces with you.
Hello, everyone! I hope your summers are closing up nicely!
I’ve got a busy few weeks/almost a week ahead of me, because I’ll be moving in to my first apartment! So, I won’t be able to keep Glam going very much for the next couple of days. I’m very sorry. I’m going to try to get the internet all figured out at my apartment as soon as possible, but you know how life can be.
I hope to be back to regular posting standards by Monday or Tuesday. :)
For those of you not familiar with the case, let me give you a very quick recap. YSL made some red-soled shoes as part of its 2011 Resort Collection, which made Louboutin a little angry. He said that he has a copyright on red-soled shoes and that they were infringing on his territory. YSL argues that red soles have been a thing long before Louboutin ever did it (which is true) and that their collection feature many colors on the soles of their shoes. Lawsuit ensues. And, you read the verdict above.
“When we dress the model for a show, first we give them the bra, the satin, the lace. It’s all about respect for the body. You never see a woman from the south of Italy without a bra. Never!”—Domenico Dolce, of Dolce & Gabbana, on the lack of bras on many catwalks.
